Fishing in Semaphore (Sat., 6 Dec. 2008)

Alvin's uncle Foo Sook was kind enough to invite Alvin and i for fishing again this weekend.. but this time to somewhere nearer and without the company of Foo Sum as she had to work... No Foo Sum during fishing also means no fresh home made sandwich.. we had to settle with hotdogs instead...

The jetty we went to this time is about twenty minutes drive from my aunt's place. It's a jetty situated in Semaphore beach. We got there at about 8am and had 'fun' till 2pm...

The handy tackle box Alvin has with him all the time which belonged to his best mate, Chik Boon (who is in Kuantan, Malaysia).. they exchanged tackle boxes before Alvin came over to Australia.. Why? Guess to remember each other by... ummm, shlould i be worried? =P

I didn't know that a tackle box can be so huge (hey, it's even bigger than a girl's handbag!)... i mean, what possibly do you need for fishing? Don't you go with just a fishing rod and bait?... let me take you on a short tour on, 'What's in the box?'...

Top compartment: Stuff that can't fit into the smaller drawers below... for example, sunglasses, sun block lotion, knife, plier, etc... (luckly no lipstick found =P)

First drawer: No, they don't play 'masak-masak' (means cooking in English) with these artificial prawns when fish is not biting.... these are called squid jigs (lures for catching squids)...

Second drawer: GOSH EVEN MORE!!!! In Alvin's defence, he says these are different from the top drawer... these are actually fish lures for catching fish... when asked why he needs so many, he says it's to catch different kind of fishes........ when i asked him how many fishes has he caught with these lures so far, he answered, 'Two fishes'...... I nearly fainted!!!!!

Third drawer: Junks like handline, folding knife, floats, more fish lures, fork and band aid

Forth drawer: More junk like floats, weights and more fishing lines...

This is the last drawer in his tackle box. When asked, Alvin says he needs more drawers..... I just do not understand men.. and they say women shops alot??!

Out of all the stuff Alvin has in his huge HANDBAG (that's what i call his tackle box =P ), there are only two useful item which i encouraged him to buy...

The first is this crab measurement ruler... if the crab you caught is smaller than the diameter shown on the ruler, you will have to release it..

Second is this fish measurement ruler... same principle applies to the crab measurement ruler...

On the fish measurement ruler, it shows the different species of fish with different minimum sizes and bag (number of fishes that can be caught in a day, per person) limits...

One of the bait used that day.. LIVE MAGGOTS!!! Was Alvin's first time using them!

View of the Semaphore Jetty...

Alvin with his trusty fishing pants... with no fish to show off..

Me with my reliable fishing rod with no fish to show off either...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! It's not a bait!! Need i say more?!!!!..

As always we can count on Foo Sook to provide us with some food for dinner...

Crabs that Foo Sook caught and gave us...

Alvin bully me by making me clean ALL the crabs on my own... *sob-sob*

Clean, Clean, Clean... and clean...

But all the hardwork was rewarding!... We could enjoy fresh crabs! What more can you ask for?

Yummyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

Even my aunt and cousins enjoyed them!
